Daniel S-C, Co-Chair, Florida International University:
Daniel (he/him) got his start organizing at Florida International University in 2023 during the wave of repression that hit college campuses across the state. During his time at FIU, he helped lead his chapter’s efforts to fight for academic freedom, trans rights, and solidarity with Palestine. He was elected to the National Coordinating Committee in 2024 as an At-Large member with his main focus was chartering new YDSA chapters and executing our national campaigns for Palestinian solidarity and Sanctuary Campuses.

Having been elected to be the NCC Co-Chair role, he hopes to have YDSA continue leading the fight against an empowered far-right through the fight for sanctuary campuses. He also aims to continue building YDSA’s investment in the labor movement, to create a strong socialist current on the road towards the May Day 2028 general strike while also strengthening YDSA’s commitment towards being a multiracial, gender-diverse party of, and for, the working class.

 

Sara A, Co-Chair, Cornell University: 

Sara (she/her) joined DSA in 2020, radicalized by both the Bernie campaigns. In her hometown of Orlando, she served as Secretary and organized for tenant and workers’ rights. She joined Cornell YDSA in Fall 2023, building the new chapter over two terms as Co-Chair. In solidarity with the people of Palestine, Sara initiated the first referendum at Cornell to divest from weapons manufacturers; organized in the student encampments; and participated in the nation’s first career fair disruption, leading to her academic suspension. As National Co-Chair, Sara is excited to develop the future of the socialist movement through campaigns that build student and working class power. In her free time, she climbs, hikes, reads, and cooks!

Allen D, At Large Member, Texas State University:
Allen Dominguez has been a member of Texas State University YDSA since 2022. Allen has also worked as a student-worker and has been active in the Texas State Employees Union since Texas State YDSA’s Raise the Wage campaign. Following this campaign, he was elected co-chair, organizing for Palestinian solidarity, migrant justice, a new parent chapter, and state-level coordination. He likes cats, the Ecuadorian countryside, and corny t-shirts. He is excited to continue to build up the party-like infrastructure necessary to empower ordinary people to lead their peers, coworkers, and communities in struggle.

Claire I J At-Large Member, Furman University:

Originally from the Bay Area, Claire is now a senior at Furman University in Greenville, SC and a co-founder of Furman YDSA. She’s excited to work with chapters this year, particularly towards creating density in rural areas, supporting the Southern labor movement, and cohering chapters across the country together to solidify YDSA as a force in national politics. When she’s not organizing, Claire loves to cook, read tarot, and learn about herbalism.

Eli K, At-Large Member, University of Wisconsin Milwaukee:

Eli began organizing by volunteering for the Bernie 2020 campaign as a canvasser and eventually joining the DSA in 2022 as a dues paying member. In 2023 they would join the UWM YDSA helping organize around Palestine and during the 2024 encampments became co-chair of UWM YDSA. Eli would also help form, along with the leaderships of MSOE YDSA and Marquette YDSA, the city wide Milwaukee YDSA experiment bringing together all campuses to coordinate actions and recruit non student youth.

James A, At-Large Member, Florida International University:

James is a young Cuban-American student at Florida International University studying anthropology and education. They joined YDSA at FIU as a freshman, at the height of the student movement for Palestine. Locally and nationally, they saw YDSA moving quickly to respond to the moment, fighting for movement democracy as encampments were sprouting up across the country.

James’ priority for the coming term includes strengthening Y/DSA’s ties with international student and socialist groups, centering multi-racial and gender-diverse organizing in the states, and preparing YDSA to meet the political moment on the May Day 2028 general strike. James is also excited to strengthen chapters’ leadership pipelines and support them in their priority campaigns, including those for sanctuary campuses, BDS, to kick Starbucks Off Campuses, and more!

When James isn’t organizing, they are making lesson plans or going on hikes or camping with their friends and loved ones.

 

Jess F, At-Large Member, University of Oregon: 

Jess grew up in Salem, Oregon and is now a junior at the University of Oregon, where they’re studying political science and cinema studies. While at UO, Jess served as an at-large member of UOYDSA’s steering committee, and has worked as a rank and file barista in Starbucks Workers United. In her sophomore year she was elected as a bargaining team delegate and article specialist for SBWU, and participated in UO’s Gaza Solidarity Encampment. This year, as a newly elected NCC member, Jess is excited to continue strengthening the Youth Labor Committee to expand its mentorship towards strategic off campus labor campaigns, while continuing to mentor student worker union drives and supporting SBWU’s contract fight. Jess is passionate about the youth labor movement and believes that socialists must lead in the labor movement, and it can start here on our campuses. In her free time she loves hanging out with her friends, her girlfriend Mae, and her cat Chicken. Jess loves exploring the Pacific Northwest and cooking elaborate fancy meals. She also loves to play guitar and sing.

Maxon A, At-Large Member, University of Cincinnati:

Maxon is a senior at the University of Cincinnati and is one of YDSA’s current At-Large members of the NCC, and previously served two years on the University of Cincinnati YDSA Steering Committee. During his time organizing, he was a barista at Starbucks, where he helped unionize the first Starbucks in Columbus and the second in Cincinnati. He has spent his time on and off campus organizing within the Palestinian movement and with labor in Cincinnati.

Sofia B, At-Large Member, Rollins College:

Sofia is a senior at Rollins College majoring in environmental studies and Spanish. As a Floridian socialist, she hopes to continue the tradition of strong red-state organizers shaping YDSA. She joined YDSA her freshman year and served 2 years as co-chair of the Rollins YDSA chapter. In her time as a chapter leader, she is proudest of her role in securing free Plan B on her campus and hopes to bring the lessons she learned about building healthy coalitions and developing femme leadership to the NCC. Sofia was also co-chair of YDSA’s National Communications Committee and will continue her mission of ensuring the continued growth of YDSA through effectively communicating our politics and campaign work to a wide youth audience. She is committed to building a larger and more diverse YDSA that creates lifelong socialist organizers!
